Looking at the confessional pieces there's way too much psychobabble and pop psychology. This is a very stodgy, meaningless and euphemistic and euphonius type of writing of the type despised for example by George Orwell. Try and stick to concrete nouns and verbs. Some of the victims you got hold of may have been trained to speak psychobabble, but part of your job is to translate it back into normal plain American - thus 'attention deficit disorder syndrome' becomes 'can't concentrate' and 'post traumatic stress disorder' becomes 'shock' or 'nerves'; and 'paranoid' becomes 'worried' and 'delusional' becomes 'crazy' and 'supercalifragelisticexpialidotious' becomes 'good'. My favourite bit of psychobabble was a 'new' disease called G-A-D or General Anxiety Disorder which some charlatans tried to get up and running a few years ago.
