Oh Dearism

E-mail Print PDF
Jason Curtis on his blog (first year) brings our attedntion to a very interesting video on Oh Dearism by the documentary maker Adam Curtis (presumably his dad) about Oh Dearism - it deals with a lot of the things about romanticism, hippies, counter culture, power and contempomrary culture that we will be looking at a lot in the 'history and context of journalism' course when that starts up in September. Very good stuff... Adam Curtis - The Power of Nightmares etc. Very good comment based stuff. Top blogging Jason!

First year blogs (and site design)

I am changing the the way the coursesite works. It will be a bit messy until the end of term, when it will be smoothed out.

The first year blogs are coming on really well - some of them are excellent and really worth a read. It is probably better to view them outside this frame. The direct link is:

The degree award ceremony will take place on  Friday 23 October 2009 at 10.30 am.

•    If you study 2 subjects at main/subsidiary level within the same Faculty and your subjects are split across 2 ceremonies, you will attend the ceremony of your main subject.

•    If you study 2 subjects as joint subjects both within the same Faculty and your subjects are split across 2 ceremonies, you will attend the ceremony which has the subject which comes first in the alphabet.

•    Providing that you have passed your programme of study, your invitation to graduation will be posted out to your home address with your results on Friday 17th July 2009.  Your invitation will include details of how to book your place at graduation, order your gown and book tickets for your guests.

•    YOU CANNOT APPLY FOR TICKETS BEFORE YOU RECEIVE YOUR INVITATION IN JULY.

•    Please ensure that your home address is kept up to date via ‘My Record’ on the portal.

You may have noticed that the coursesite is now embedded on the main university website (in a special subdomain). It will continue to work in the same way. You can still reach the site by using the url http://winchesterjournalism.com.
